Mission and Vision
Camping has a long history within the Methodist tradition and family. For many years, camp meetings brought whole families to Christ and served as a summertime highlight in family histories. We are honored to continue that rich Methodist heritage.
One mission of the Ranch is to sustain church community in a way that traditional church settings cannot. Participants in camp environment feel free to be themselves and enter the camp setting without pretense. Experiences of Christians that take place away from everyday routines open them to God’s beckoning in ways previously not experienced. According to the General Board of Discipleship, “An enormous number of people of all ages will participate in faith experiences at more than 250 United Methodist Church Camp and Retreat Centers in the U.S. and beyond.” (Kevin Witt, GBOD.org/camping).
Our vision is to travel an EPIC journey of faith at JWR cultivating our “living commitment to protecting and preserving the environment given us by our Creator.” (The Social Principles of the United Methodist Church). We are to be a vital Christ-like community excited about serving churches from all over America and the world! We are passionate about the faith experiences, memories and relationships formed here! We are inspired by the hope of Christ within us and the transformation of those who come here. We are committed to the love of Jesus, the love of His creation, and the love of His people.
Our task is to provide a safe, beautiful, and secure environment where people can come to be challenged spiritually, socially, physically and environmentally. First and foremost to recognize where they are with Jesus Christ, but also to address the physical requirements of guests.
